Pemarro Detox Becomes Key Component Of Stepping Stone Continuum Of Care

June 16, 2020

Stepping Stone is pleased to announce that Pemarro Recovery Center has officially become a part of the Stepping Stone family of services. Thanks to this new relationship with Pemarro, Stepping Stone’s continuum of care now includes detox, inpatient, outpatient, aftercare and sober living programs.

Pemarro Recovery Center is a 10-bed detox treatment center located on 12 acres of land in Ramona, California. Pemarro has been operating for the past 36 years providing a range of acute detox programs for people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Pemarro remains a first important step for many on a journey to recovery and getting their lives back on track.

As a member of the Stepping Stone family, Pemarro will remain an independent nonprofit organization with its own staff, while gaining the benefit of increased cooperation and administrative support from Stepping Stone’s larger infrastructure.

Clients of Pemarro come from a diverse range of backgrounds and prior treatment experience, from all over San Diego County and the country. After the initial detoxification period, clients can choose to continue on with their care at the treatment facility of their choice, or at Stepping Stone, thus providing a direct path for clients needing help with acute alcohol and drug withdrawals before entering Stepping Stone’s residential or outpatient programs.

“Pemarro and Stepping Stone have long had a close and supportive relationship, so when the Pemarro Board of Directors decided to look for the best path to transfer control of the facility in order to ensure its bright future, Stepping Stone was the logical choice,” said Peter Stafford, former Pemarro Board President. “We have trust that Stepping Stone will utilize the Pemarro facility to enhance their existing continuum of care, and we feel confident that Pemarro will thrive under the current Stepping Stone leadership.”

Michael Moore, Stepping Stone Board Chair and new President of Pemarro Board, emphasized this point: “We are grateful for the trust placed in us to continue Pemarro’s legacy, and the opportunity to introduce more clients to this life-saving program.”

Cheryl Houk will serve as Executive Director of Pemarro and Michael Moore is joined by Theresa Brennan, John Hall, Kate Judd and Jack Steenstra on the newly formed board.

Clients can reach out anytime on either website – pemarro.org or steppingstonesd.org – or by emailing [email protected], and a trained staff member will connect them with appropriate resources. Visit us online @pemarrodetox and @steppingstonesd.
