Medical Director, UCSD Owen Clinic

Dr. Laura Bamford is a board-certified infectious disease specialist and medical director of the Owen Clinic at UC San Diego Health, specializing in HIV care, prevention, and treatment for individuals at high risk, including those with opioid use disorder or hepatitis C. Previously, she led Clinica Bienestar, a Spanish-speaking HIV clinic in Philadelphia. An associate professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine, her research focuses on HIV prevention among people who inject drugs. She completed her medical training at Jefferson Medical College, Columbia University Medical Center, and the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of work, she enjoys music, biking, running, skiing, and traveling.
