Geri (Reynen) LaFrombois passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on December 7, 2021. She described her last days as some of the best days of her life, surrounded by family and friends, plenty of laughter, tears and heartfelt goodbyes. Everyone who came into Geri’s life knew how much she loved them, and never stopped believing in them. She will be dearly missed.
Geri was born Saturday, December 20, 1947, in Green Bay Wisconsin, where she lived for most of her life. Her parents James and Elaine Reynen were prolific, provided Geri with a first set of three sisters – Bonnie (and Mike), Kathy and Sue (and Mike); and then another three siblings some years later – Jim (and Kim), Holly (and Ewan), and Tommy (and Meghan).
Geri, on the other hand, saved all of her love for just one child – Michael Moore of San Diego, California from her first marriage to Patrick Moore. Geri and Michael always had a very close relationship and a special bond, and checked in daily by phone or text … or both! Geri briefly moved to San Diego in 2010 to be near her son. There, she met and adopted a dog – Buddy – at a local shelter. They moved back to be with friends and family in Green Bay, where she lived the rest of her life. Buddy passed away in 2018.
Geri was comforted to know she will join Buddy, her ex-husband and best friend Bob, her brother-in-law Steve, her friend Darla and many other loved ones.
Geri must have been granted nine lives when she was brought onto this earth, and used up twice that many during her lifetime. Through it all, she maintained a distinctive, sometimes irreverent, sense of humor that could make her friends roar with laughter and her family grimace. She was devoted to service, giving up her time, resources and sometimes her home, to help those she loved through hard times. Since 1979 – for 42 years – Geri was a grateful and active member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and cherished the relationships she built with her spiritual sisters in that program.
Geri had great relationships with many friends and nieces, nephews, and their children. This included a particular affection for her niece Stephanie and her daughter Avery. Special thank you to Maryjo and Janice, and to the staff at Bellin Hospital and Unity Hospice for providing incredible care and comfort to Geri.
In lieu of flowers, Geri is requesting donations to Stepping Stone of San Diego.
