Remembering Ginny Halligan

We are sad to announce the passing of Ginny Halligan.

Ginny Halligan, 87, died peacefully on August 13, 2023. A formidable woman to the very end, Ginny lived a full life centered on her three true loves: her husband Sid, her children and their children, and music.

Ginny was the kind of woman who made friends wherever she went, because she could talk to anyone – and she also knew how to listen. Those who had the good fortune to be Ginny’s friend or family member will know this – she made each of us feel important, valuable and good. That was her gift to her family and her community.

Ginny had a special love for Stepping Stone and all the great work they are doing in San Diego. Alcoholism and addiction touch most families, including her own, and she loved to visit Stepping Stone on her frequent visits to San Diego. She attended The Pink Gala – both in person and virtually. She cheered on The Recovery Ride cyclists from Maine. And one of her favorite memories was seeing the joy on the residents’ faces on Christmas morning as they received their gifts.

Ginny is survived by her five children, Lisa Ferguson (Jacque), Sara Schiavi (Michael), Nora McRae (Phil), Mary Anne Halligan (Jorge Paz) and Jere Halligan (Michael Moore), her 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grand children, with more on the way!

A memorial fund has been created to honor Ginny. Your contributions will help support those seeking recovery and a commemorative tile will be placed in the courtyard to honor and celebrate Ginny’s memory.
