With the first quarter of the year already flying by, we thought we’d reach out and get you caught up on what’s springing up for us all here at Stepping Stone Of San Diego. |
Stepping Out |
By – Pam Highfill Happy Birthday Stepping Out! Celebrating 1 year as of April 3, 2018. We have been up and running for a year now and what a year its been! Thanks to the generosity of the board and the strong effort in our community to bring this service back, we have been able to create a location that is welcoming, comfortable and can be accommodating for our clients. The flexibility of our program allows us to address people from our community at all levels of their recovery efforts. We can now cover the complete spectrum of care, from harm reduction to a high level of residential care for individuals with co-occurring diagnoses. During the past year, we have served over 120 people. We started off in our first week in April 2018 with 3 clients, we ended our last week of March 2019 with 57 clients. We have several clients who have been with us for longer than three months; they feel safe by remaining connected. To celebrate all our many accomplishments and to say thanks to the wonderful efforts of so many we are going to have an Ice Cream Social Please come by, build yourself a sundae and see for yourself how we have grown. Please RSVP to our Facebook event so we know how much ice cream to buy. |
ALUMNI NEWS |
By – Anthony Bianca The Alumni Association is an important part of Stepping Stone and is made up of alumni, allies, and friends. This association is a sub-committee of the Stepping Stone board and works to support the residents of Stepping Stone through mentorship and activities. They also do fundraising throughout the year to support our residents. Benefiting the resident fund, the alumni coordinate Stepping Under The Sea with live entertainment, dancing, cake, food, and a silent auction all for just a $20 donation to help current and future residents with essential items as they establish sobriety. FAMILY ASSOCIATION |
Are you a family member of a recovering alcoholic or addict associated with Stepping Stone? Join us for our monthly Family Association meeting! The goal of the group is to help educate family and friends of people in recovery (or still in active addiction) on the psychology of addiction, plus give them a forum to process their own emotions about dealing with a loved one who is an addict. They can learn how the disease of addiction affects the entire family while getting support and hope from the other members of the group. The group leader explains concepts that might be unfamiliar to some – disabling, enabling, self-care and boundary setting – and can offer tips on how to use these in a healthy manner. Our next group will meet: • Date: Monday, April 29th • Time: 6:00 pm • Location: Stepping Out Outpatient Treatment Center, Great Room • Address: 3928 Illinois Avenue, San Diego, CA 92104 If you’d like additional information about this upcoming meeting, or how you can connect with us, please contact us here. |
