San Diego, CA — Stepping Stone of San Diego is proud to announce it has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the County of San Diego’s Neighborhood Reinvestment Program, made possible through the leadership and support of District 4 Supervisor Monica Montgomery Steppe.

This funding will allow Stepping Stone to complete vital renovations at Enya House, its primary sober living facility located in the heart of Hillcrest. Planned upgrades include new windows, exterior door replacements, bathroom renovations, flooring improvements, and essential plumbing system upgrades—all aimed at ensuring the safety, dignity, and comfort of residents in recovery.

“We are incredibly grateful to Supervisor Montgomery Steppe and the San Diego County Board of Supervisors for investing in the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ San Diegans,” said Andrew Picard, Executive Director at Stepping Stone. “This support helps ensure that our residents can focus on healing in a space that is secure, welcoming, and affirming.”

Stepping Stone has served San Diego’s LGBTQ+ community for nearly 50 years through substance use treatment, mental health care, and HIV-related services. Enya House provides a critical bridge for individuals in recovery, offering a structured and supportive sober living environment that fosters lasting change.

This project is funded in the public interest, reflecting Stepping Stone’s commitment to addressing the unique recovery needs of the LGBTQ+ community through education, prevention, and long-term support.
